Bob Tommey

Robert Dallas “PaPa” Tommey, 92, passed away September 28, 2020 at his home in Carthage. Bob was born March 2, 1928 in Ozan, AR to James Oliver Tommey and Betty Katura “Edmiaston” Tommey. 

Bob served at the Pentagon in the United States Army, was employed by Braniff International Airlines in Dallas, TX making topographical maps and was a self-employed artist. Bob was the founder of the Midwest Gathering of Artists, a member of the Texas Cowboy Artists, along with teaching and mentoring countless up-and-coming artists.

Bob was united in marriage to Patsy Combest on April 29, 1961 in Dallas, TX; she preceded him in death on August 8, 2015.








Bob is survived by three sons, Tim Tommey of Carthage, MO, Steve Tommey(June) of Candanian, OK and Terry Tommey of Rowlett, Texas; one daughter, Beverly Tommey-Jefferis and husband Mike of Carthage, MO; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Keith), Beau (Macy), Kolton, Cheyenne (Dalton), Rayna, Blake, Claire, Shanae, and Zach; five great grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Olivia, Elizabeth and Lila.

Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Bill” Tommey (twin brother) and Thomas Tommey; two sisters, Betty Reeder (Joe) and Inez (Agee) Gilbert; and one great granddaughter, Hannah. Numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home.
