Charles Babb

Charles E. Babb, 60, Carthage, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2021, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. He was born September 7, 1960 in Webb City, Missouri, the son of Marilyn (Jones) and James Babb. 

Charley graduated from Carthage High School in 1978. He then received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Missouri Southern State University in 1985. He married his beloved Jeanne Severn on November 21, 1981.

One of his favorite titles was “Poppa”. Charley loved and was very much loved by his grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them as much as he could. He was a faithful fan of his Carthage Tigers and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was an accomplished cook, a master with the grill, and a great entertainer. 








Friends and family knew Charley for his great sense of humor and quick wit. Over his lifetime he worked at Video World, Yellowbook, and School Messenger. He was a member of the Carterville Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Jeanne Babb; a son, Clayton (Ashley) Babb; a daughter, Natalie (Jay) Martin; grandchildren, Molly, Cash, Lane, and Wes Martin, and Charlotte Babb; a sister, Chrisi (Darius) Manino; and niece, Ila Manino. He also leaves behind a large group of friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John Babb.

Funeral services will be held 10 am, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Children’s Haven of Joplin, Missouri in care of Knell Mortuary.
