George Sheat

George Edward Sheat, age 84, of Lamar, Missouri passed away December 28, 2020 with his family by his side.

George was born April 19, 1936 in Lamar, MO to David William "DW" Sheat and Bessie Mae (Collins) Sheat. He graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1954. 

On July 28, 1957, George married Patricia Sue Bass in ­Lamar, MO and she passed on May 4, of this year.








George was a farmer, a member of the Liberal, MO Athletic Booster Club, a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Liberal as well as the First Baptist Church in Lamar. He had been a school bus driver, a Young Farmers Member, where he helped with their tractor pulls. He was a Board Member of Barton County Farmers CO-OP, enjoyed hunting and fishing and participating in tractor pulling, having won several trophies over the years. George loved playing pitch and going to the Barton County Sr. Center with his wife, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. He was always pulling pranks and quick to laugh... no wait...chuckle and was always fun to be around.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Cheryl) Sheat and Chris (Dana) Sheat, all of Lamar, MO; two daughters, Brenda (Tom) McKay, Jasper and Teresa (Russell) Foster, Kansas City, MO; one brother, David (Joan) Sheat Jr., Lamar, MO; two sisters, Betty Lou (Glen) Benedict, Nampa, ID and Norma Walker, Lamar, MO; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers-in-law Bill Bass, Kansas City, MO and Marvin McCollough, Lamar, MO; and a sister-in-law Martha Bass, Girard, KS.

In addition to his wife, George was preceded in death by a sister, Reba McCollough, and three brothers-in-law, Tom Bass, Mike Bass and Sam Walker.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Lamar First Baptist Church. There will be a private family burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. To honor the family, they ask that everyone in attendance wear a mask. The service will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/firstbaptistchurchoflamar
