Wanda VanWey

Wanda L. VanWey, 80, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 9, 2021 at UTMB Jennie Sealy Hospital, Galveston, Texas. 

Wanda was born June 14, 1940 in Carthage, the daughter of Glen B. VanWey and Edith E. (Lown) VanWey. She worked as a nurse’s aide in a nursing home for many years. Wanda married Frank Clyde Stanley, and to this union, seven children were born; they later separated. 

She enjoyed crocheting, making jewelry, plants and gardening, collecting knick-knacks, especially of cows, but most of all, loved her church and loved her family. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage.








Survivors include five children, Rodney Stanley (Donna), Texas City, Texas, Frankie Stanley (Londa), Carthage, Missouri, Robin Munn, Grants Pass, Oregon, Beckie Stanley, Texas City, Texas, and Shawnda Kralicek (Russell), Humansville, Missouri; one brother, Charles VanWey, Carthage; two sisters, Louise Templeton, Webb City, Missouri, and Florence Still, Carthage; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Beverly Clifford; an infant son, John Henry Stanley; a brother, Everett VanWey; and two sisters, Rosie Harbison, and Viola Peoples.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Interment will follow the services at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church, Carthage in care of Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
