Nancy Roberts

Nancy Lynn Roberts, 74, of Baxter Springs, KS passed away March 7, 2021 in Pittsburg, KS after a long illness.

Nancy was born in Joplin, MO on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1946 to Ted and Mae Dalton. She graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1964. 

She attended Pittsburg State University and married her high school sweetheart Art Roberts on August 5, 1967. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri Southern State University in 1977. She taught second grade in the Baxter Springs school system for 31 years, retiring in 2009.








She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Tommy Dalton, and Danny Dalton.

Nancy served nearly 20 years on the board of trustees for the Johnston Public Library in Baxter Springs, and she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, the beach, Kansas State University athletics, and taking her grandkids shopping.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years Art Roberts of the home; Son, Artie Roberts (wife Casey and Naithen); grandson, Anthony Roberts (wife Alayna); granddaughter, Caitlin (Karsten Creech); two great-grandchildren Stella Roberts and Noah Creech, all of Baxter Springs. She has one brother Ted Dalton (wife Ruth) of Quapaw, OK.



Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Kelly Noakes will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Johnston Public Library in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
