Darlene Franklin

Darlene Franklin was born January 8, 1942 in Lockwood, Missouri to Marvin and Marie Sanders. She entered into rest on April 12, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family, following an extended illness at the age of 79. 

Darlene attended Lockwood Schools and resided in the southwest Missouri office most of her life. She had worked at Safeway Cheese plant in Carthage in quality control and retired after 25 years. She then worked as a private caregiver. 

She loved being with her grandkids, cooking for her family and singing 'The Old Rugged Cross'. She was a member of the Hilldale Baptist Church.






 

Darlene married Leland Franklin on May 29, 1959 and they had three children, Doug, Cindy and Charlotte. 

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leland of the home; two daughters, Cindy Knight and John Moser of Joplin and Charlotte (Lloyd) Busker of Neosho; one brother, Gene Sanders, Quitman, Arkansas; five grandchildren, River (Ashley) Franklin of Neosho, Seth Franklin of Neosho, James Elder of Neosho, Lindsey (Kyle) Hamilton of Miami, Oklahoma and Kayla (Jesse) Koff of Joplin and eight great grandchildren, Kynlee and Breckyn Hamilton of Miami, Oklahoma, Wyatt and Mason Elder of Neosho, Jadelyn, Destiny and Nova Franklin of Neosho and Sophie Bousquet of Joplin.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Doug Franklin in 2002 and a brother, Darrell Sanders.
