Janice Larkin

Janice Marie (Colton) Larkin, 77, of Webb City, MO, died at 3:14 P.M., Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Freeman West Hospital.

She was born July 12, 1943 at Parsons, a daughter of George Almer and Leah (Poage) Colton. She grew up and attended school at Parsons, graduating from Parsons High with the Class of 1961. She lived a short time in Kansas City, MO and worked at the Hallmark Card Co.

On February 10, 1962 she and Dwayne E. Larkin were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church at Parsons. The couple lived in Fredonia and returned to Parsons in 1965. 








She then began baking cakes for weddings, birthdays and other occasions and was known as “The Cake Lady”. She made cakes until the couple moved to Little Rock, AR in 1989. They later moved to Webb City, MO in 2010. Mr. Larkin survives of the home.

While living in Parsons, Janice was a member of the First Baptist Church. Currently she was a member of Christ’s Church at Oronogo, MO. She enjoyed baking, scrapbooking and crafts, attending many craft fairs with her husband.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: her daughter and son in-law – Brenda and Donnie Sotta, Rural McCune, KS; one son and daughter in-law – Brent and Laarni Larkin, Joplin, MO; another daughter and son in-law – Angela and Jeff Pracht, Bentonville, AR; Eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters – Margie Shields, Panama City, FL, Pauline Shartzer, Wichita, KS, Joan Stueber, Kansas City, KS, Judi Vaughn, Kansas City, KS. 

She was preceded in death by two brothers – Raymond “Bud” Colton, Dean Colton; two sisters – Phyllis Colton, Dorothy Worrall and one grandson – Daniel Sotta.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Mark Christian officiating. A private burial will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Altamont. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
