Melba Walker

Melba L. Walker, 97, of Pittsburg, formerly of Parsons, died at 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg.
Melba was born February 3, 1924 in Barton County, Missouri, a daughter of Roy and Erma (Stone) Marlow. She grew up and attended schools in Liberal, Missouri.

Melba married Charles E. Walker on December 24, 1941 in Neosho, Missouri. Charles preceded her in death on January 13, 1997.


Melba was retired from the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center in Parsons.






She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parsons and enjoyed sewing, quilting, cross stitch, making jewelry, arts and crafts, Kansas City Royals, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors are a daughter, Michael “Mick” Walker and her companion, Randy McCall, of Pittsburg; her grandchildren, Jolene Reed, and her husband, Kelly, and Leanda Stover, and her companion, Kelly Kyser; her great-grandchildren, Audra Reed and Terry Reed; her great-great-granddaughters, Rymington Reed and Ryver Reed.

Melba was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Eli Reed; her brothers, Raymond Marlow and Roy Marlow; her sisters, Doris Jonte and Ruby Crowder.

No services are planned and interment will be at a later date in East Bethany Cemetery near Parsons.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons.
