Barbara Doyle

Barbara L. Doyle, age 84, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on April 30, 2021, following a brief illness.

She was born December 20, 1936, the eldest daughter of three children born to Champ and Louise (Sparks) Hollingshad in Kansas City, Missouri. 

She is survived by her siblings Dorothy Phillips ( Bob Wsaffield) of Springfield, Missouri, and Champ Hollingshad (Arlene) of Allyn, Washington. She was a graduate of West Plains High School Class of 1954 and was employed by Southwestern Bell for several years and more recently for Lowe’s.








On May 1, 1965, she married Thomas H. Doyle along with his four young children. In 1969, a fifth child was added to the clan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and younger son, Thomas Wilson Doyle.

Survivors include her brother and sister, and her children Jim ( Ann) of Joplin, grandson, Seamus Doyle ; Kay (Steve) Carlton of Carthage, granddaughter Nicole ( Brock) Wagner, grandsons Brad (Kellye) Carlton, and Sam Carlton; Theresa ( Leon) Witt of Springfield, grandsons Ben ( Jenny) Witt, Doyle ( Meghan ) Witt, Caleb ( Brittany), and granddaughters Sharon ( Scott ) Myers, and Maggie Witt; Sara (Dave) Baker of Overland Park, grandson Michael (Katie) Baker, granddaughters Katy ( Drew ) McCart, and Caroline ( Austin) Macfarlane; and daughter-in-law Tisha Doyle of Joplin and grandsons Tom Doyle and Jake Doyle.

She was great- grandmother to Kate, Andy, Ann, Winston, Daphne, Frank, Matt, Millie, Leo, Genevieve, Maddie and Grayson. She is also survived by a large extended family of many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri with Rosery to be recited at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, May 5, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Joplin Area Catholic Schools and may be entrusted to the mortuary or directly to https://www.jacss.org/development/.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
