(From Parker Mortuary)Carol Ann Kern, age 65, of Joplin, was reunited with her husband in heaven on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 after fighting a 7 year battle with Alzheimer’s. She passed away peacefully with her children by her side.
Carol, daughter of the late Galen and Dorothy (Betz) Moses, was born on August 30, 1955 in Joplin. She previously worked at Labarge and made components that went on the space shuttles. She also was previously employed as an independent merchandizer for companies such as Hallmark.
On February 14, 1981, she was united in marriage to Paul Kern in Joplin. Together they enjoyed being parents and grandparents. They were actively involved with their church, First Christian Church of Joplin. Paul preceded her in death on January 10, 2016.
Carol loved being a mother. She enjoyed being active in their lives and attending all their sporting events starting with Brady’s baseball games and ending with Amanda’s tennis tournaments. She was involved in the elementary PTO, Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, and was JHS marching band parent. Carol enjoyed bowling in her leagues with her mother and even went to several championship tournaments. She enjoyed scrapbooking, knitting and traveling. However, her ultimate passion was gardening. She loved her plants and flowers. She is building a beautiful garden in heaven.
Survivors include one son, Christopher “Brady” Moses, and his wife, Kathy, of Branson; three daughters, Kimberly Wenger, and her husband, Nicholas, of Sarcoxie, Amanda Kern, and significant other Jack Owens, of Joplin, and Jennifer Burns, and her husband, Edwin, of Joplin; three sisters, June Cook, and her husband, Fred, of St. Helens, OR, Sandra DeFeo-Vazques, and her husband Abby of Phoenix, AZ, and Karen Frazier, and her husband, Wayne, of Springdale, AR; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Galen and Dorothy Moses, and her husband, Paul Kern.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Joplin at 4th and Pearl. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday, August 23rd at Parker Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
