Joann Jones

Joann Jones, age 84 of Joplin, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday August 5, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Joann was born on March 4, 1937 in Blytheville, AR raised by her uncle and aunt Troy and Ilene Stevenson. She married Sam Jones Jr. on September 19, 1973. 










Joann followed Assemblies of God fellowship and in later years attended Wildwood Baptist Church in Joplin. She was retired from the Trust department of U.S. Bank. She enjoyed working on her garden, reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and was always trying out new recipes. She enjoyed getting reacquainted with family and friends on Facebook.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Jones Jr, a son; Jim Jones and his wife Edie, a daughter; Lucretia Turney and her husband Mike, a sister; Norma Lane of Flippin, AR. Grandchildren include Whitney Jones, Forrest Jones, Hannah Huffman and Elisabeth Huffman. Great-Grandchildren include Dylan, Macee, Judah and AJ Oakes. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Drewery. In addition, she had numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Later in life, Joann was blessed with an extended family of brothers and sisters. Surviving siblings are Roland Appleton, Larry Appleton, Bruce Appleton and Margaret Moffitt.

Joann loved her Savior and lived her life as an example of Christian faith and love. She was a Godly woman and strived to show her commitment to Christ to all who knew her. She read her Bible daily and prayed fervently for her family and friends, many times getting up in the middle of the night to intercede in prayer when the Lord laid someone on her heart.

Visitation will take place at Mason-Woodard Chapel on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services have been scheduled on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:00pm at Wildwood Baptist Church. Lew Poe and Jim Jones will be officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
