Don Baker

Donald Wayne Baker, 81, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday Morning, December 1, 2021, at his home in Joplin, Missouri around a family from a long-term illness.

Don entered this life on June 15, 1940, in Pitcher, Oklahoma, born to Walter William Baker and Alta Elizabeth Smith. The majority of his life has been spent in Joplin, Missouri. 









He was united in marriage to Janice M. Baker and to this union three children were born, Robin Schmoranz (Rod) of Lamar, Jeff Baker (Rose) of Joplin, Jared Baker (Mary) Cleveland, Georgia. Don entered the Navy in 1957 and retired after 20 years of service in 1977 as an E6 First Class Petty Officer. After retiring, Don started a career with Sears Home Improvement for 20 years as a Branch Manager over productions. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with his family.

Don is preceded in death by his wife Janice, Brothers, Floyd McKibben, Joe, Charlie, Cecil. His Sisters, Elsy Crosby, Loville Eby, Violet Piper. Don is survived by his three children, four grandchildren, Jeffery Baker, Stacia Olson, Travis Schmoranz, Jermey Schmoranz, and many great-grandchildren. He will forever be in our hearts.
