Billie Edge
(From Daniel Funeral Home)Billie Gene Edge, age 94, of Lamar, Missouri went to his Heavenly home on January 25, 2022 at Cox Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Billie was born July 26, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri to Benjamin and Laura (Miller) Edge. He was raised in Springfield, Missouri. He met the love of his life Betty Louise Poole and they were married on January 21, 1949. They had one child, Larry Gene Edge.
Before Billie was married, he joined the United States Navy on June 22,1945. He served as a Seaman First Class on the USS Ludlow. He took great pride in his service to his country and felt it was his honor to do so. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on July 31, 1946.
Billie worked for the Springfield Public School District in the maintenance department, he retired in 1980. He was a wonderful carpenter and cabinet maker, doing many odd jobs for family and friends in their homes. Billie and his wife Betty moved to Lamar, Missouri to be close to their son and his family in 2009.
Billie is survived by a son, Larry and his wife Robbie, three granddaughters; Shawna and her husband Bert Phipps, Sara and her husband Danny Cawyer and Tara and her husband Bob Littlejohn. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; Carlee Phipps, Brianna Vinson and her husband Nathanael, Tanner Phipps and his wife Darrah, Payton Littlejohn, Laney Cawyer, Ellie Cawyer, Koen Littlejohn and Macey Cawyer.
Billie was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, his brother, Kenny Edge and a sister, Sue Hickman.
Billie was a long standing member of Pythian Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to The Williams Syndrome Association or the Barton County Memorial Park in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
