Helen Yarbrough

Helen Elizabeth (Kiefer) Yarbrough died peacefully with family by her side on December 29th, 2021 at the age of 100 years old. Helen was born on April 23, 1921 to Henry & Frona Kiefer. 

She lived through the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, and every war since World War II. Her nickname was “Sarge” because Helen was always in charge. She was known for her “famous” Angel Food pies and loved to spend time traveling with her late husband in their RV. Helen always found humor in everything. She lived a full and happy life and will be missed dearly by many.








She was preceded in death by her husband, James Yarbrough; daughter, Libby Peck; brother, John Kiefer; and her sister, Zola Ruth Adams. Survivors include her son, Jim Yarbrough of Monett, Mo. and son-in-law, LeRoy Peck of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jill Harless of Joplin, Mo., Mike and Kelli Powelson of Edmond, Okla., Jeff and Melissa Powelson of Rosendale, Mo, Jennie and Jon Peralta, of San Diego, Ca., and Allen Yarbrough of Oronogo, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan Powelson, Riley Powelson, Kara Hosman, Jacob Powelson, and Audrey Peralta; a sister-in-law, Gail Kiefer; three nieces, Jodie Adams, Sue Crews and Carol Stauffer, and two nephews, Tom Adams and Joe Kiefer.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held graveside at 2 p.m. Wed., Jan. 5th, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in Springfield, MO.
