Mary Lou Basham, 82, of Nevada, MO passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at the home of her daughter in Deepwater, MO. Mary Lou was born February 2, 1940 in Hockerville, OK to Eugene and Velma Williams.

Mary Lou enjoyed a long career as an LPN and enjoyed taking care of patients at the Nevada Manor and the Nevada Habilitation Center among other places. She was always gardening and doing home improvement projects. When she wasn’t planting flowers, she was generally painting something in her house.

 

It was often said that Mary Lou never met a stranger. She easily made friends wherever she went and she truly enjoyed being out and about in her community. Her easy smile and friendly face was sure to put people at ease.

Her true love however was her family. Mary Lou was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Basham Sr. of Nevada, MO and her oldest son Christopher Basham of Nevada, MO. She has 3 surviving children and their spouses Cynthia and Jay Yewell of Deepwater, MO; Dale and Sherrie Basham of Paso Robles, CA; Delpha and Casey Crain of Nevada, MO; daughter in law TaLenna Basham of Richards, MO and grandchildren Jenny Rainey of Shelby Township, MI; Cyndi Fleming of Washington DC; Shelly Maki of Chisholm, MN; Melanie Signorelli of Lompoc, CA; Mary MacFarlane of Rochester Hills, MI; Travis Yewell of Maria, CA; Brandi Basham of Pittsburg, KS; Travis Dusek of Paso Robles, CA; Christa Basham of Richards, MO; Hannah Lyster of Oronogo, MO; Devin Linn of Baltimore, MD and Logan Crain of Carthage, MO and 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday February 12, 2022 from 12pm-2pm at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family requests that friends and family come ready to celebrate Mary Lou’s life in accordance with her final wishes and please wear a mask.
