Brenda Smith

Brenda Lorraine Smith was born on October 09, 1970 in Festus, Missouri to Sandra Warren-Hahn. She grew up in DeSoto, Missouri and graduated from DeSoto High School in 1989.

Brenda moved to Shell Knob, Missouri to be near her family later in 1989. After working for local businesses in Shell Knob and Cassville, she was hired as a secretary/dispatcher for the Barry County Sheriff’s Office in 1994, where she met her soulmate, James Smith. They were married in front of the Sheriff’s Office in Cassville in October of 1994.








Brenda became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her second son. While raising her two sons, she became a very creative cake decorator and spent her time making a loving home and crafting. Brenda loved crafting and making special gifts for her family and friends.

Brenda loved celebrating holidays and birthdays and was able to make each one a memorable and special occasion.

Brenda was devoted to her family and enjoyed nothing more than serving others. She and James were foster parents to several local children.

After the children were grown, Brenda returned to the workforce, finding her niche with Compassus Hospice in Monett, where she worked as the Volunteer Coordinator and Bereavement Coordinator until the time of her passing.

Brenda was a city girl at heart, but became a farmer’s wife and adapted well to country life, finding solace in the quietness and beauty of the country.

Brenda was proceeded death by two children, Gabriel Smith and Leigh Anna Smith, whom she has now joined in eternity with.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 27 years, James; two sons Alex, with wife Hannah, of Crane, and James, with wife Katelyn, of Aurora; two grandchildren, James Smith and Emiery Smith and one on the way; her parents, David and Sandie Hahn of Galena; brothers Richard, with wife Sophia Shular, of Maryland and Keith, with wife Vanessa Hahn, of Webb City; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Brenda’s earthly remains will be cremated under the direction of Holden Funeral Home of Sparta at her request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Miracle Network in her name.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Crane Missouri.
