Delbert Thomas, 82, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Neosho, Missouri with his loving family by his side.

He entered this life on June 5, 1940 in Houston, Texas, born to the late, Ernest Webster and Thelma Nadine (Meeks) Thomas. Delbert proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service. 

He married the love of his life, Brenda Ruth Chandler on November 8, 1958 in Biloxi, Mississippi and to this union two daughters were born. He also worked as a postal carrier for the Anderson Post Office and was a farmer. 

Delbert enjoyed hunting, woodworking and sports to include, baseball, softball, volleyball and squash. He also collected old classic cars. Delbert will be remembered as a good neighbor and always there to help. He was a faithful member of the New Bethel Church in Anderson, Missouri, where he served on the board of trustees for several years.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Ross Thomas and Donald Everett Thomas.

Those left to share Delbert’s memory are his wife of 63 years, Brenda Ruth Thomas; two daughters, Teresa Raye Tomlinson of Anderson, Missouri, Angela Ruth Thomas of Neosho, Missouri; two brothers, Carl Ernest Thomas of Anderson, Missouri, Richard Lee “Dick” Thomas of Topeka, Kansas, Danny K. Thomas of Cameron, Missouri; a sister, Veldia Nadine Rideout of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, James Adam Tomlinson and wife, Ashley; Kenneth Ray Tomlinson, Bonnie Amanda Burleson, Benjamin Carl Burleson and wife, Kaley; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Everson, Kylie, Zaiden, Madison and Dixie; as well as a host of other family friends and neighbors, who will dearly miss Delbert.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Pastor Dennis Bergen will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri. 

Those honoring Delbert’s life by serving as pallbearers are Adam Tomlinson, Kenny Tomlinson, Xavier Tomlinson, Everson Tomlinson, Ben Burleson and Jacob Brower. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions in loving memory of Delbert may be given to the New Bethel Church in care of the funeral home.
