Elizabeth Meador

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Meador, 91, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Freemont Senior Living in Springfield, Missouri.

Elizabeth entered this life on September 16, 1930, in Springfield, Missouri, daughter of the late Wayne and Verbal (Moore) Potter. She was raised in Pleasant Hope, Missouri, and was a 1948, graduate of Pleasant Hope High School. 

She furthered her education at Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, graduating in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, teaching one year in Seymour, Missouri. 








On June 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Meador and to this union three children were born, Carol, Julie and Jim. They resided in Springfield until moving to Joplin, Missouri, in 1959. She enjoyed sewing, needle work and craft projects, square dancing and family trips to Branson. She was a longtime faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Joplin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-two years, Jim Meador on February 21, 2015; and a brother, Raymond Potter.








Elizabeth is survived by her three children, Carol Lynn and husband, Rusty, of Durango, Colorado, Julie Gillogly and husband, Kevin, of Springfield and Jim Meador and wife, Carole, of Joplin; four grandchildren, Kristen Woods of Springfield, Jennifer Hooks of Bentonville, Arkansas, Lauren Slater of Springfield and Kelli Wright of Durango, Colorado; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jean Hill of Clever, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Joplin, Missouri, with Pastor Marsha West Eichler officiating. Burial will be held privately at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Missouri, with Jim Meador, Rusty Lynn, Kevin Gillogly, Kurt Hill, Shannon Woods and Jonathan Hooks serving as pallbearers. Memorials are being directed to the First United Methodist Church c/o the mortuary. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin.
