Bob Kirby

(From Daniel Funeral Home)

Robert "Bob" Galen Kirby was born May 29, 1952 in Jerico Springs, Missouri to Charles Mack and Wilma Viola (Osban) Kirby, and passed away on January 3, 2023 at his home in rural Barton County at the age of 70.

Bob spent a lot of time at his grandparents, with his brother Charles when they were young, which is where he picked up his chewing habit from his Grandpa. He lived all of his childhood around Jerico Springs, attending school there and graduating from Stockton High School.

Bob spent his teen years helping haul hay, milking cows, raising hogs, working at the sawmill and helping his Dad drive a truck, even when he was too young to drive. Bob went into the Army in October of 1972, spending several months in Germany and later served in the National Guard.

In early 1975, Bob married Barbara Warren and to this union three children were born, Robert, Dondi and Christy. They would later divorce. In November of 1993, he married Diane Stockton and gained five step-children; Katie, Michael, Rick, Marry and Sandy.

Bob had many different jobs in his adult life, working at Central States Press, Bough Dairy Farm, driving a truck, and Thorco Manufacturing, where he worked until his health caused him to go on disability.

Bob was one that enjoyed life. He loved to dance with anyone that would dance with him, go on 4-wheeler rides, and spend time with family and friends. After Diane's passing in January of 2016, Bob stayed in his home with the assistance of family and friends, where he spend several hours watching westerns.

Bob is survived by his three children, five step-children, 28 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, his two brothers, James and Ronald; three sister-in-laws, Angelan, Ruby and Sandra; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Jean Kirby and Ramona Dickerson; numerous cousins and friends, two special friends, Tom and Beverly Melton; and his two housedogs who provided him a lot of company.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Edward and Charles; one sister, Wilma Hunt; two nephews and other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023 , at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenfield Cemetery in Jerico Springs, MO.

The family will receive friends, Friday, January 6, starting at 1:00 p.m., until service time at the funeral home.
