Mike Still

Michael LeeRoy Still, age 79, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Freeman West in Joplin.

Mike was born February 24, 1943 in Joplin, son of the late Gilbert Still and Minnie (Spencer) Still. He was a lifelong resident of Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School in 1961. He then attended Pittsburg State University where he received his degree in Education, and later earned a master's degree. 

He was a football and basketball coach at Parkwood for several years before taking over the family business, Gilbert’s Office Supply. He was a member of the Joplin Elks Lodge and enjoyed playing bridge with the fellow members. He was also an avid golfer, having made two holes in one, and played regularly at Schifferdecker Golf Course. He was also a member of the First Community Church of Joplin.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Carole (Cumpton) Still who passed away March 17, 2003.

He is survived by his son, Bryan “Chris” Still and wife Jennifer of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Christian “Alex” Still, Austen Still, Adam Lattimore, Olivia “Liv” Lattimore, and Jen Platts; great-grandchildren, Jace, Avery, and Brooklyn.

 

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in Ozark Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mike.
