Jean Ward

Jean Rosemary Ward, age 90, of Joplin, Missouri passed away April 11, 2023.

She was born August 12, 1932, in Wichita, Kansas to Floyd Semisch and Ruth (Williams) Semisch. She was united in marriage to Bill Ward on June 8, 1952, in Leon, Kansas.

Jean was a member of the Forest Park Baptist Church. She had worked for many years at United Way as well as working as a clerk for the City of Joplin. She loved gardening, stained glass, photography, researching genealogy, volunteering, working in several church libraries and being on the farm where she grew up.

She was a giving person and always put others first. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughters who she had a very special bond with.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill on November 19, 2019, and her grandson Caleb Neely

Jean is survived by her daughter, Mica Neely of Joplin, Missouri, her son, Eric Ward and wife Vickie of Willard, Missouri; two grandchildren, Brandon Ward, Chelsie Wilburn; three great grandchildren, Emma Ward, Jaylee Ward, Ava Wilburn; two brothers, Duane Semisch and Keith Semisch as well as numerous extended family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 pm Sunday April 16, 2023, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Saturday April 29, 2023 at Leon Christian Church Leon, Kansas.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jean are suggested to ALS and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
