John Cheung

John Hou-Ka Cheung, age 64, of Oronogo, MO, passed away on Thursday, March 30th, 2023 at Freeman Hospital.

John was born on December 31st, 1958 in Hong Kong SAR, to the late union of Chuen Mou “Peter” Cheung and Kwai Hing (Suen) Cheung. He grew up in Hong Kong and later moved to Oklahoma in 1979. John attended Oklahoma University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Journalism. 









On January 5th, 1985, he married Julia Graves in Miami, Oklahoma. Shortly after, John and Julia moved to Dallas, Texas where he worked for 23 years as a Dallas Police Officer. John was very proud of being an officer, just like his father in Hong Kong. He loved to tinker and fix things that were broken. He enjoyed biking, kayaking, and on the rare occasion you could find John riding his unicycle.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Adams; and a brother-in-law, Richard Graves.








John is survived by his wife, Julia, of the home; two brothers, Joseph Cheung “Chung Ka” (Rainbow Lui) “Choi Hung”, of Hong Kong and Jimmy Cheung “Shun Ka” (Lui, Xu), of Hong Kong; one sister, Lucia Cheung “Suk Ping”, of Taiwan; two step-sons, Vance Booe III, of Missouri and Travis Booe, of Texas; two brother-in-laws, Emmanuel Graves and John Graves; three sister-in-laws, Ada Bell Schroeder, Marcha Burns, and America Vinna Lawson, all of Missouri; aunt, Betty Suen “Suk Ping” and uncle, Alex Ng “Kwok Fu”; one grandson that John raised as his son, Matthew Booe and granddaughter, Madison Booe, of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and other aunt and uncles.

Cremation arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
