Mary Hendrix

Mary Lou (Allen) Hendrix peacefully went to be with the Lord June 29, 2023, from complications of congestive heart failure. 

She was born May 12, 1933, to Lloyd and Mabel Allen, but soon after became the daughter of Glenn and Mabel Atkins. She was residing at MedicaLodges of Neosho and under the care of Gentiva hospice care. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Reverend Robert Hendrix Sr., a daughter, Baby Sue Hendrix, and two brothers, Tom Atkins, and Wayne Atkins. 








She is survived by four children: Kay Brock (Broken Arrow, OK), Vickie Butler (Mike, Diamond, MO), Tammy Oxendine (Granby, MO), and Robert Hendrix Jr. (Satanta, KS) and one sister, Sue Gilliam, (Joplin, MO). She has 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and 4 grand-puppies.

Mary was born in Carthage, MO and graduated from Stoney Point Grade School. She married the love of her life on May 14, 1950, and together celebrate 70 years of wedded bliss. Mary was an active resident of MedicaLodge and a member of the First Church of God, Granby, MO where Robert had pastored years before. Mary worked at Bob’s Shoe Warehouse in Carthage in the 1970’s and Tyson’s Foods in Neosho in the 1980’s. Mary Lou was kind, compassionate, loving, and above all, a Child of God. Mary Lou was passionate, protective, and proud of her family. Mary Lou was a giver of hugs and never met a stranger. She is now home with her Savior, Jesus Christ and her sweetheart, Robert. She will be greatly missed but will remain a wonderful, beautiful memory in our hearts.








Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin. Followed by an interment at Stone Cemetery near Diamond. Pallbearers are Chad Brock, Brian Brock, Shane Kissel, Matt Kissel, Matt Clark, and Bryce Wade with honorary are B.J Oxendine, Don Kidd, Cody Kidd, Tyler Kidd, Ethan Thomas and Landon Wade. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 6-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Church of God in Granby, MO. in memory and honor of Mary Lou and Robert Hendrix.
