David Edgerton
(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)David Michael Edgerton, Sr., 77, of Joplin. MO, passed away on August 20, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. surrounded by his family.
David was born on May 31, 1946 in Fort Dodge, IA. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Mikalyne Mori, for fifty-four years and together they were blessed with three children and four grandchildren.
David was a hardworking man who provided well for his family working in the corrugated paper industry for over forty years. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Central City, AR. and loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed being outside, gardening, mowing, fishing, and watching car racing and old westerns on tv. David was a master of many things: quick witty one-liners, growing tomatoes, solving jigsaw puzzles, building things, and fixing just about anything. Throughout the years family and friends affectionately referred to him as either Mike, Big Moose, Big Dave, Jack, Pops, and Pekoe.
David is survived by his wife Mikalyne Edgerton, Joplin, MO; daughter, Marci Chronister and husband Dale, Mt. Ida, AR; daughter, Heather Bourbon, Marshall, MO; and son, David Edgerton, Jr. and wife Stephanie, Joplin, MO. Four adoring grandchildren include, Logan Chronister, Gabe Bourbon, Houston and Remi Edgerton. Brothers and sisters include, Dan Edgerton and his wife Marlene, Grimes, IA; Ron Edgerton and wife Linda, Tucson, AZ; Pat Seil and husband Melvin, Farnhamville, IA; and Sue Schultz and husband Don, Battle Creek, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard Edgerton, Sr. and Irene Isabelle (Vinsant), and brothers Dick Edgerton, Gary Edgerton and Steve Edgerton.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 3, 2023, from Noon to 3:00PM at The Mollie Venue & Retreat, 513 S. Main Street, Galena, KS. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.
