Daniel Thompson

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Daniel Thompson Born April 5, 1965 in Philadelphia, PA. to Linda Thompson. He was educated in the Philadelphia school district and attended Bathroom High School. Later, he wanted to get into plumbing and remodeling, but that path didn”t prove to be fruitful.

He then decided to pursue a career as a chef. He said that if you know how to cook, you’ll never go hungry. He started off cooking at a pizza restaurant, then was a chef and manager at a soul food restaurant called “Dee`s Soul-N-The Bowl.”

Later he became interested in a self-challenge to be able to enhance food flavors with just herbs. He thought he could best do that at a Nursing home and obtained a chef position at Holy Redeemed in Pennsylvania. This was a great success and the residents loved his delicious meals.

During his Chef’s path, he met Rasheem. Dan said that she was different and soon knew that she was the one for him. Likewise, Rasheem found him to be an extraordinary gentleman coming from a rough background and quickly knew that he was the man for her. They were married on October 19, 2010.

Early in their relationship, Dan exhibited Christian qualities. He would often remind Rasheem of her meeting nights and help her rehearse her Ministry School talks and would pick up magazines from the Witnesses on his way home from work.

It would be years later that Dan”s heart would open up to Jehovah’s Bible truths. Dan would often tell Rasheem “As he thought of Jehovah’s New World. He could picture himself on the dock and Rasheem on the boat waving good bye and leaving him behind. He said, “I need to find out how I can get on the boat”. Rasheem and Dan moved from Philadelphia to Joplin, Missouri in August of 2017. Dan indeed found out how to get on that boat. He was Baptized during the Pandemic on November 1, 2020.

Dan has dealt with many health issues over the years, but always had a positive, cheerful outlook. He was a loving caring person. And was so funny, he always had you laughing. He will truly be missed.

Dan leaves to mourn his loving Wife Rasheem, Father-in-law Hardwick Powell (Denise), Mother-in-law Patricia Powell, 2Sisters-in-law Tomika Powell (Logan), Ashlyn Aviles (Wilson), many Cousins and a host of Friends.

Dan’s favorite saying “The proof is in the pudding”

Rasheem and Family would like to express their sincere thanks for all the love, support and comfort they have received during their time of loss.
