Scott Wittenmyer

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

Mickey Scott Wittenmyer, age 54, passed away at 12:47am, November 11th, 2023, at Mercy Hospital Springfield, Missouri following a short illness.

Scott was born April 17, 1969 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. His parents were Mick and Judy (Davis) Wittenmyer. He was a lifelong resident of Galena.

Scott attended classes in Galena but definitely told you he graduated from the school of hard knocks. He enjoyed Raiders Football and doing anything outdoors, especially fishing. He loved animals and had a special pet dog he had named Pup Pup.

Scott had a soft-spot for those in need or anyone who was just plain lonely. Scott was a protector of those he loved. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share his spirit and evoke love and loyalty from every soul he touched. He was a defender for the underdog and forever kind to strangers, although you were never a stranger for long.

Scott’s death leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor.

Surviving is one son, Dakota Wittenmyer, Pittsburg, KS; three daughters, Kaley Figueroa (husband Dante), Joplin, MO, Alexandra and Isabelle Wittenmyer both of Neosho, MO; two stepchildren, Emma Scroggins and Mason Renfro, both of Neosho; his father, Mick Wittenmyer, Galena; two sisters, Tara Wheelen, Galena and Cassie Tash, Riverton, KS; and one granddaughter, Ella Figueroa.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Wittenmyer, and one sister, Michelle Wittenmyer.

Scott's legacy will live on forever through the many stories he shared and the memories of those who had the opportunity to know him. He will be remembered as a loving father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
