Arthur Henson

Arthur Eugene Henson, age 79, passed away at 2:14 pm, Monday, January 1, 2024 at Mercy Hospital, Carthage, MO.

Arthur was born May 1, 1944 in Joplin, MO. He was one of 14 children born to Orin Lavell and Willi Josephine (Kelly) Henson. He was a lifetime resident of Joplin.

Arthur was self employed as a tile setter and earned the reputation of one of the best tilers in the area. He enjoyed fishing and racing stock cars at local dirt tracks. If he was not racing himself, he enjoyed watching others competing on the tracks.

He married Virginia Marzell Smith on October 22, 1962 in Joplin, MO. She survives. Additional survivors include two grandsons, Justin Henson, and Jim Henson; and one great-grandson, Aidan Henson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his 13 siblings, and his two sons, Chris Eugene Henson and Ricky Dean Henson.

Arthur was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. No services are planned.
