Wayne Noble

(From Clark Funeral Home)

John Noble—Wayne—to family and friends, passed away peacefully at home on January 19th surrounded by loved ones.

Wayne was born on January 26, 1937, in Racine, Missouri, to John and Cora (Gilstrap) Noble. He was the third of six children in his family.

Wayne spent most of his life in Racine and graduated from Neosho High School in 1955.

During his childhood and teen years, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boxing, and was active in the Racine Christian Church. After high school he enlisted in the Army and spent most of that time stationed in Germany. While there, he honed his skills as a paratrooper; spending much of his time jumping out of airplanes.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Wayne returned to Racine to work with his dad and younger brother, Larry, in the family’s lumber mill business. He and Larry later took the business over, which became Noble Brothers Lumber Mill.

Going to work in the mill wasn’t the only big change in Wayne’s life when he returned home. Shortly after he returned to Racine, he met Doris Stephens. The two were married in August of 1960. And to their union, three sons were born: John, Stephen, and Pete.

Wayne made the decision in the mid-1960s to pursue a different career path, which took the family to Oklahoma so that he could earn a degree in computer science from Oklahoma State Technical College in 1969. Following his graduation, Wayne worked for Texas Instruments in Texas until 1974. In 1974 he accepted a position with the State of Missouri in Jefferson City—a position he held until he retired in 1994.

In 1998 Wayne and Doris fulfilled their long-time dream of living on the lake when they moved to Pomme De Terre. There they spent the next twenty-five years, thoroughly enjoying countless hours of fishing, boating, and sharing their home with family and friends.

Wayne was a man of integrity and unshakeable faith in God. He was also a man who always put his family first, with fishing, and hunting coming in close behind, all of which he instilled into the hearts and minds of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a brother in-law, Bill Bennett and a nephew, Doug Bennett.

In addition to his wife of sixty-three years, Wayne is survived by three sons: John (Darla), Steve (Susan) and Pete (Jana); ten grandchildren: Zach Noble (Rebecca), Megan Campbell (Chris), Elizabeth Vandivert (Craig) Olivia Mueller (Chris), Cortney Yount (Scott), Lauren Schmutzler (Zach), Emma Waggoner (Dwight), Chris Noble (Jessica), Jadon Noble, and Jacey Noble; twenty-two great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Noble, Macy Noble, Alexis Armstrong, Zoey Armstrong, Jack Campbell, Hank Campbell, Laney Vandivert, Landrey Vandivert, Reuben Peters, Matthew Yount, William Yount, Micah Yount, Oliver Yount, Anna Schmutzler, Monroe Schmutzler, EllieJo Schmutzler, Andie Schmutzler, Esther Waggoner, Josephine Waggoner, John Daxton Waggoner, Charleigh Waggoner, and Peyton Noble; three brothers: TJ (Pat), Larry (Sheila), and Nick (Jan); two sisters: Charletta Bennett Routledge (Allen), and Joye Routledge (Charles); numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
