Gloria Davies

Gloria Jean Davies, aged 85, departed from this world on March 8, 2024. Born on September 8, 1938, in Flint, MI, to Buren and Thelma Connell. 

Gloria was very a strong, independent woman, with an entrepreneurial spirit. She led a full life and had many experiences and careers along the way. Gloria left home at a young age and began working, sending money home to help support her family. 

In her younger years, her careers included airline stewardess, horse track attendant, and owner and operator of a pizza parlor. Gloria went on to have three children, with whom she instilled the same strength, and independent spirit she herself possessed. She later purchased a farm, where she raised her children, while keeping animals, growing a large garden, and preserving her harvest. There, she often read bible stories to her children, which instilled a deep faith in God for her daughter, and they went on to have many bible discussions throughout their lives. It was also on the farm where she met her life partner, Joseph, with whom she went on to spend 30 years with. 

During that time, she and her partner traveled the country, remodeled many homes, and owned and operated two caves. Later the two moved to Goodman Missouri, where they enjoyed hosting many family gatherings filled with food, cards, and games. 

Gloria was passionate about giving to, and helping those in need throughout her entire life, and lived as frugally as possible to facilitate that passion. Joseph survives her, along with her children, Jannetta Larson and husband Greg, and Anthony Davies and his wife Denise, her nine grandchildren, her sister Mona Connell and a niece Logan, whom she had a special bond with. 

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Owen Davies, and four siblings. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service to honor Gloria's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Mayfield Cemetery in Goodman, MO.
