John Williams

John James Williams, age 73, passed away at 3:53 am, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at his home.

John was born August 26,1950, at St Anthony’s hospital in Dodge City, KS. His parents were Loren Ralph and Agnes Honora (Baxter) Williams. John completed his schooling in Dodge City attending Sacred Heart, Ford School and Dodge City High School class of 1968. He went on to earn a Bachelors degree at St Mary’s College in Dodge City in 1974.







During college, John worked at Casterline, Skaggs Motor Co and Estes Motor Company.

John started his career teaching the 6th grade at Oswego Jr. High in 1974, later teaching 5th grade. He taught at different schools, but returned to Oswego, retiring in 2007 after 33 years of teaching. He also worked as a driver for Diamond Coach and Dependable Transportation, and drove a school bus for many years.

John helped coach Little League baseball for several years in Oswego and held the position of Recreation Director for some time. John was elected as a Kansas State Representative for a few years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church, Parsons, KS. He was always tinkering and collecting things. He loved studying Science and working on old cars.

John was married to Cindy Kay Hucke on July 4, 2008 in Miami, OK. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, John Williams (Mandy), Chetopa, and James Williams, Duenweg, MO; one daughter, Michele Jenkins (Jim), Oswego; two stepdaughters, Krystal Huggard (Bob), Dennis, KS and Skye Wills (Nick), Lincoln, NE; one brother, Mark Williams, Owasso, KS; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild with a second on the way.








He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kim Williams, and one sister, Jane Johnson.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Church, Parsons, KS. Pastor Tony Encarnacion will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday, April 5, 2024 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Oswego, KS.
