Barbara McCullah

Barbara Jean "Sug" McCullah departed this life on May 27, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born to Homer and Velma (Conley) Burress. On the day she was born, a severe snowstorm prevented the doctor from reaching the home. 

Barbara married Johnny Dean McCullah at age 16 in 1955. They moved to Texas, Kansas and then Colorado due to Dean's service in the army. Barbara graduated from high school in Wellsville, Kansas, in 1957. in 1962 they settled in Arvada, Colorado, where they enjoyed camping and mini-bike riding in the Rocky Mountain, always accompanied by their beloved poodles, Sheila and Sam.








In the late 1970's, Barbara and Dean moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later divorced. Barbara then moved to Joplin, Missouri, and eventually to Granby, Missouri. Throughout her life, she worked in the electronics business, co-owned Su Boon's Cafe in Granby, and later worked at Fullerton Stone Co. She often spoke fondly of her time with Bill and Bud from Fullerton Stone Co.

Barbara cherished her weekly lunch outings with her circle of friends and had a particular fondness for cheeseburgers from J.J's.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ann Poe Zumwalt and Bill Burress. she is survived by her beloved pet, Shea, as well as many nephews, nieces, great-nephew, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and her long-time friend and personal assistant, Terri Barker.








Barbara's memory will be cherished by her family and friends, who will remember her love for animals, adventurous spirit, and the joy she found in simple pleasures.

Graveside services will be Monday, June 3,2024 at 2 pm at Granby Memorial Cemetery. Ira Hawkins will be officiating.
