Michael Hoft

Michael Lee Hoft, age 68 of Chanhassen, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at home after a fierce battle with Huntington's Disease. 

Mike was born on February 5, 1956 in Salina, Kansas to Harold and Mary (Bell) Hoft. 

In 1992 he married the love of his life, Noreen Rachor on July 4th at The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, Minnesota. 








He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary, his grandparents Ben and Martha Hoft, his sister Marcia (Hoft) Matzek, a grandson, Trenton Taylor Hoft, and a great grandson Michael Aries Hoft. 

He is survived by his wife; daughters Chastady Hoft of Wichita, Kansas, Amber (Shannon) Lenker of Webb City, Missouri and Casey (Vonn) Durst of Moundridge, Kansas; and brothers Jay (Debra) Hoft and Terry (Lisa) Hoft. Mike was blessed with nine grandchildren Justin (Hayley) Hoft; Keaton Hoft; Allyson, Ruben, Mia and River Lenker; Isaac, Isabelle and Charlotte Durst and three great grandchildren Percy, Payden and GraceLynne Hoft.

In 1974 Mike graduated from Eastern Heights High School Agra, Kansas, where his father's family lived. He worked in the roofing industry for over 36 years as a dedicated member of the management teams at Tamko Asphalt Products in Phillipsburg, Kansas from 1977-1986 and Certain- Teed Corporation in Shakopee, Minnesota from 1986-2013. 

Mike excelled at various sports, but had a special fondness for billiards, long range and precision shooting, sporting clay shooting and black powder rifle competitions. His prowess was well known in shooting circles, often hitting targets up to 1000 yards away. 

An avid hunter, Mike respected nature and wildlife, taking part in big game hunts for deer, antelope and caribou across Northern America. His stories of fishing for muskie, ice fishing and trips hunting coyotes, pheasant, rabbit and squirrels in the countrysides of Kansas and South Dakota were legendary within his community and among his family. 








Above all, Mike cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the finer points of shooting prairie dogs and calling coyotes. His legacy of respect for nature and sharp shooting skills will live on through them. Mike leaves behind a loving family, countless friends and a community that respected and admired his outdoorsmanship and sporting expertise.
