Mickey Johnson

Michaela “Mickey” R. Johnson of Quapaw, OK passed from this life Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was 84.

Mickey was born July 7, 1939 in Cardin, OK to Mike and Ada (Dillinger) Laramore. She had lived in the Cardin and Quapaw area most of her life and graduated from Picher-Cardin High School Class of 1956, and then attended and graduated from N.E.O. A&M College in Miami, OK. 

Mickey had worked for the Bank of Quapaw for many years as a bank teller. she had served as City Clerk in Quapaw for many years as well as Mayor, Vice-Mayor, City Treasurer and city council member. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Quapaw where she also served as church treasurer. She served also served on the Quapaw School Board.

Mickey married James “Jimmy” Johnson July 11, 1959 in Bartlesville, OK, they were married 59 years and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2022. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law Colleen Daugherty.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jim “Jimbo” Johnson and wife Tina of Stillwater, OK and Jerry Johnson and wife Michelle of Fairland, OK, 1 sister, Jeannine Keith of Oklahoma City, OK, 4 grandchildren, Amanda Oldham of Oklahoma City, OK, Breanne Johnson of Fairland, OK, Jay Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK and Jared Johnson and wife Caleigh of Jacksonville, FL, 1 great grandchild, 3 nieces, Sherry Kishore Stefanowich and husband John of Oklahoma City, OK, Cynthia Lakin and husband Jim of Guymon, OK and Karen Morris and husband Greg of Richmond, TX, 1 sister-in-law, Fae Ann Moreland of Neosho, MO, 3 nieces by marriage, Jane Ann Bird of Nowata, OK, Linda Garrow of Pittsburg, KS and Diane Yurk of Columbus, KS, special cousin, Cindy Brown of Miami, OK and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Tim Mixson will office. The family will have a reception following the services at Mickey’s home in Quapaw, OK. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Miami, OK.
