Sally Hendrick

Sally Hendrick was born to Nagib and Dorris Tooni on June 3rd, 1951 in Neosho, MO. After a short illness Sally unexpectantly went on to be with our Lord on January 25, 2024 here in Ventura, her home for the last 27 years. She was 72. 

Sally is survived by her loving husband Raymond Hendrick, her daughter Nora Hendrick, her granddaughter Savannah Emerson and her sister Suzy Kane. She tragically lost her son Benjamin Hendrick in Dec. of 2021. 

He was just 45 years old. Also nephews Tim Hendrick, Peter and James Megna, Peter and Tom Kane, Patrick Tooni, niece Suzi Berg, and other extended family.

Sally grew up in Montclair, New Jersey. From her roof she could see the New York City skyline. When she was eight her father, who was a huge part of her world, passed away leaving Sally's family in crisis. At 16 Sally, at odds with her step-father went to live with her older brother Frank (now deceased), who she credited for saving her. 

At 19 she was at a party where she met her future husband for life, Raymond, who had just returned from Vietnam. Sally and Ray lived together until January 5, 1975, when they finally got hitched. In 1974 Sally experienced a powerful conversion to Christianity, and Ray followed shortly thereafter. 

They both trained for the ministry and began pastoring their first church in Bullhead City, AZ. in 1978. After that through the 1980s Sally went with family to start churches in Toowoomba, Australia; Hobart, Tasmania; an on to Melbourne, Australia. 

The family also spent one year in the Philippines preaching the Gospel, reaching the poorest nation in Asia. Then back in the states in 1992, Sally continued in the ministry in New York with her husband and then, 27 years ago, she moved with Ray to Ventura where she worked as an assistant Manager in Chicos until the stores closing in 2010. Sally retired in Ventura, the city she loved. She is so missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial on Saturday May 18th, at 3pm, at The River Community Church (Foursquare), 889 E. Santa Clara St, Ventura CA 93001.
