Sharon Glades

Sharon Louise (Myers) Glades, 75, of Joplin, Missouri passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024 surrounded by her family at Mercy Hospital Joplin after a sudden illness.

Sharon was born April 12, 1949 to Kenneth H ‘Peanut’ and Violet (Vandorn) Myers. She grew up in Galena Kansas as the middle sister of five children. Patty, Kenny, Sharon, Marcia, and Keith. She graduated Galena High School in 1967 and later attended MSSC in Joplin.








On July 26, 1971 Sharon married Philip Glades. After a few years of living in Galena, they built their family home and moved to Joplin, Missouri where they raised their four children Jennifer, Brian, Kelli and John.

Sharon worked numerous jobs throughout her life, including being a substitute teacher for the Joplin R-8 school district. But the job she loved most was being a mother and a grandmother.

In January 2021, Sharon moved to the Wildwood Senior Living complex. Here she made many wonderful friends and lived her life to the fullest.

Sharon was a living example of a good and faithful servant. She loved the Lord with every part of her heart. She prayed every morning, every night and lived a life of grace, gratitude and joy.

Sharon is proceeded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Violet, sister Marcia Morton, brother Kenny Myers and brother-in-law Keith Glades.








Survivors include ex-husband Phillip Glades, daughter, Jennifer, husband Nathan and sons Jacob and Caleb Grant of Baxter Springs. Brian, wife Melissa, children Nathan Riley, Olivia and Vincent Glades of Joplin and Triston Arivett and family of Neosho. Kelli Autry, husband Preston of Springdale, Arkansas, and John Glades Jacksonville, Florida. Sister, Patty McCorkle, husband Donnie of Galena, brother Keith Myers, Springfield and sister-in-law Vicki Hoffman, husband Scott of Baxter Springs.

She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.

Sharon was a “Galena Girl” through and through so of course her arrangements have been entrusted to our friends at Derfelt Funeral Home Galena, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at the Derfelt Chapel on Friday May 17th, 2024 at 2:00pm with family Pastor John Swadley officiating. The family will receive visitors on Thursday May 16, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm at Derfelt Chapel Galena, Kansas. Pallbearers will be Brian Glades, John Glades, Nathan Grant, Preston Autry, Nathan Rylee Glades, Jacob Grant, Caleb Grant and Vincent Glades.
