Jerry Jennings

Jerry Lyn Jennings, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 31, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 83. 

Born on July 4, 1941, in Newton County, Missouri, Jerry was the cherished son of Arthur Franklin and Imogene Christine (Thurman) Jennings. 







A proud graduate of Granby High School, class of 1959. Jerry went on to earn a communications degree at University of Nebraska, Omaha. After graduating from college, he went on to become an expert communications engineer, dedicating his professional life to advancing the field.

On May 16, 1959, he married the love of his life, Katherine ‘Kathy’ Sue (Stockton) Jennings, in Granby, Missouri. Their enduring marriage of 65 years was a testament to their deep love and commitment. Jerry had a passion for life that was evident in all he did. He loved spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, playing with his computer and traveling abroad with his wife, Kathy. In his younger years, he enjoyed building model airplanes, a hobby that showcased his creativity and attention to detail.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy; his sons, Michael (Brylee) Jennings, Lee (Angela) Jennings, and David (Nazijle) Jennings; his daughter, Carla (Raymond) Chew; his sisters, Christina, ‘Sister’ Edwards and Connie (Tom) Doore. Jerry was a proud grandfather to seventeen grandchildren and a great-grandfather to nineteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.








Jerry is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Jennings, his parents, Arthur and Imogene Jennings and his brother, William ‘Bill’ Jennings. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 5 pm to 7 pm. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 9, 2024, at 5:30 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Neosho. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, reflecting Jerry's lifelong commitment to helping others. Jerry Lyn Jennings will be remembered for his warmth, his love for his family, and his zest for life.

His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
