(From Simpson Funeral Home)Linda Fay Garner, affectionately known to many as Mammie, passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born to Floyd and Flora Edith Collins on May 16,1953 in Webb City at Jane Chinn Hospital.
Although she was in fact 71, she was young in spirit and heart and often told her grandkids she was turning 39 on her birthday, every year. She would giggle with pride when asked if her oldest daughter, Renee, was her sister.
Linda lived the last two decades of her life in Joplin, where she worked as a cosmetologist, along side her youngest daughter, Charity, at Alluring Soul. She had a natural talent for hairdressing, and it has been said by many that she started fixing others hair as a young child. She attended beauty college in the late 80's and excelled in her career.
One of her classmates from beauty school remembers that everyone wanted Linda working on their hair. She took pride in making her clients feel their best and deeply cherished the relationships she had made with them. She had a keen eye for beauty, not only in her profession, but in all areas of her life, from her fashionable attire, Betsy Johnson collection and treasured Jewelry.
Linda also worked for Schreiber in Carthage, and although only for a short time, she formed deep connections with her fellow partners. She never had the opportunity to thank all of them for organizing her fundraiser, but she expressed her gratefulness to her children.
Linda had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies, including shopping, traveling, spending time with her beloved grandkids, gardening and meeting new people. She took immense joy in spending time with her family. Linda was always excited to take her grandkids on outings, have them stay the night, and going to various school functions. She loved to plan vacations with her loved ones. She enjoyed taking a little road trip to visit her son, Shannon, and would often deliver his farm fresh eggs.
Although Linda never learned to swim, she had a deep appreciation for the beach, which she considered one of her favorite places to visit. she loved the south and a southern drawl and enjoyed Savannah, Georgia the most.
She was also fond of watching Lifetime and would laugh at how she "just go sucked in" after seeing 3 or 4 movies in a row.
Linda was most often described as kind, loyal, empathetic, a real go getter, funny, loving and caring. She was a hard worker and instilled the principle in her kids and grandkids that giving up is not an option. Linda never gave up and fought this illness until her very last breath.
Linda will be dearly missed by her children, Renee (Duane) Pringle, Shannon (Maureen) Garner, and Charity (Mike) Matheny. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories for her grandchildren; Alexis (Zach) Hartje, Chase Garner, Vanessia Leinwebber, Ray (Beth) Pringle, Jacy Pringle, Grady Garner, Gauge Garner, Derrick Matheny, Hayle Matheny, Triston Matheny, Addyson Matheny and Arlo Matheny. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Hartje, Landyn Hartje, Marney Garner, Peyton Pringle, Taylor, Raelynn Pringle, Avalyn Russel, Ella Russel and Jasper Russel.
The visitation for Linda will be held at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 10:00am, followed by a service at 11:00am. In Linda's honor, please bring your cherished memories, stories, and photographs of her to share.
