Beth Whorton

Bethania “Beth” Elaine Whorton, age 65, Columbus, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at Mercy Joplin Hospital after a courageous battle.

Beth was born on June 12th, 1959 in Pryor, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Earl Walker and Blanch Walker (Johnson). She grew up in Pryor, Oklahoma where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Dwight “Dee” Whorton in 1977, he survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her children; Heath and wife Marta Whorton of Daingerfield, Texas, Heather and husband Terry Burns of Carthage, Missouri, Hannah and husband Justin Morgan of Monkey Island, Oklahoma, and Joshua and wife Heaven Whorton of Columbus, Kansas. Grandchildren include; Mercedes Burns, Clayton Pugh, Jarrett Pugh, Brayden Whorton, Payton Livingston, JayLynn Livingston, Addi Cook, JoLeigh Whorton, Morgan Whorton, and Joseph Whorton; brothers Ronnie and wife Willa Mae Walker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Hutch and wife Mary Walker of Miami, Oklahoma; sister Donna and husband Ron Gardner of Salina, Oklahoma.

Beth and family moved to Commerce, Oklahoma in 1985 where she pursued and achieved her Masters of Speech-Language Pathology, she continued to work until retirement in 2022.

Beth was loved by many and had life long friends she met along the way. One of her truest friends, Beth Bradshaw, was more like a sister than a friend to Beth. Beth was always known for her love of cooking, family, and mostly her love for her sweetheart, Dee of 49 years together, married 47 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held by family at a later date.
