Dave Jones

David “Dave” H. Jones, 73, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, in Grove, Oklahoma. 

Dave was born on September 6, 1951, in Carthage to Harold and Doris Jones. He was a lifetime resident of Carthage and Joplin areas and had spent the last 2 years at Grand Lake, Oklahoma. 

He was a Carthage High School graduate, class of 1969. He operated several bars and restaurants over the years, most notably, the Red Lion. Dave was famous for his ribs. 

He was one of the most well-known DJ's in the four states. He was a lake rat, enjoyed attending concerts and loved hanging out with his grandkids. Dave was an excellent drummer and was a member of the bands Crossfire, Fingers, and many more.

Dave was united in marriage to Mary Bigham on April 24, 2024, in Miami, Oklahoma; she survives.
Other survivors include five sons, Jason Jones (Bonnie) of Colorado, Justin Jones of Carthage, Zachary Jones (Brittney) of Stark City, Missouri, Clayton Jones of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jacob Jones of Carthage, Missouri; one daughter Amber Jones of Diamond, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Jamie Gilbert (Johnny Gauf) of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Jessica Beltran (Jaime) of Republic, Missouri; one sister, Linda Schoemehl (Tom) of St. Louis, Missouri; and 12 grandchildren, Adian Marshall, Aundrea Jones, Lilly Jones, Katelynn Jones, Celcia Jones, Tanner Jones, Brooklyn Gilbert, Everett Gauf, Adeyln Gauf, Joshua Beltran, Samuel Beltran and Benjamin Beltran.

There will be a service held for David on Tuesday, November 1 2, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. The visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12:00 to 1:30 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He will be buried at Paradise Cemetery, following the service.
