(From Parker Mortuary)Patty Lee Lauener, age 94, Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Joplin Gardens, following a short illness. Patty was born April 11, 1930 in Picher, Oklahoma to the late Lyndel and Geneva (Martin) Irwin.
Patty graduated high school from Seneca, Missouri and later attended Joplin Junior College. Her and her husband owned and operated Lauener and Son Machine Works where Patty was the company’s bookkeeper. She also worked 10 years with Newman’s Department Store in Joplin.
A person to never be idle, Patty was active with many organizations, clubs and her church family. She was a former Deaconess with South Joplin Christian Church, lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, past Worthy Matron of Temple Chapter 95 of the Order of Eastern Star, volunteered with the St. John’s Auxiliary for many years and for the last several years has been a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Joplin. Of all her accomplishments and enjoyments in life, nothing was more important and precious to her than time with her grandkids and great-grandchildren.
On September 30, 1951, Patty married Alvin J. Lauener in Joplin, he passed on October 2, 2001. To this union were the birth of two sons, Greg Lauener of Joplin and Ken Lauener (Cindi) of Joplin; granddaughters, Meagan McCall (David) and Morgan Lauener, both of Fayetteville, Arkansas; nine great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Graveside services are planned for Monday, December 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Parker Mortuary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either American Cancer Society or Joplin Gardens, both in care of the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
