Sandra Wheaton

Sandra L. Wheaton, age 77, of Marion, IL, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 5:19 a.m. at Herrin Hospital, Herrin, IL.
She was born on May 13, 1947, in Flat River, MO, a daughter to Johnny Sylvester and Ruby Geraldine (Merritt) Moyers.

Sandra attended school in Chaffee, MO and was a graduate of the Chaffee High School Class of 1965. She continued her education at Ozark Bible Institute in Neosho, MO.

On February 11, 1966, Sandra was united in marriage to Gregory Mark Wheaton in Cape Girardeau, MO. Together they shared over fifty-three years of marriage until he preceded her in death on September 21, 2019.

Sandra and her husband owned and operated Sandi's Sewing Center on the square in Marion for twenty-five years until closing it in August of 2019. Sandra and Greg loved working with their many customers, who were their friends. Sandra was a devoted pastor's wife, serving alongside her husband as they pastored Elco Pentecostal Church in Elco, IL, Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in West Plains, MO, Trinity Pentecostal Church in Marion, IL and Oasis of Grace Church in Anna, IL, where they were pastoring at the time of her husband's passing.

Although some never had to pleasure to see it, Sandra had a very humorous side and loved to laugh and bring laughter to others. She had many hobbies and interests in life ranging from being an avid reader to driving a school bus; from being a successful Tupperware salesperson to crocheting. She was strong and determined and was very devoted to health, wellness and nutrition. Not only her own, but of that of her family's, as well. Above all, Sandra loved the Lord and her family. Many wonderful memories have been created throughout her life that will now be cherished by her loving family and friends that she leaves behind.

She is survived by her children, Timothy (Rebekah) Wheaton of Lexington, KY, Rebecca (Brian) Anderson of Greencastle, IN and Jon (Amanda) Wheaton of Herrin, IL; ten grandchildren, Justin (Navoda) Wheaton, Gatlin (Randi) Wheaton, Leilani Wheaton, Darian (Lia) Wheaton, Jude Wheaton, Liz Anderson, Bri Anderson, Logan Wheaton, Nolan Wheaton and Piper Wheaton; six great-grandchildren, Magnolia Wheaton, Camellia Wheaton, Ezra Wheaton, Aurora Wheaton, Evelyn Wheaton and Owen Wheaton; sister, Alice Meagher of Fenton, MO; brothers, Mike (JoKaren) Moyers of Rend Lake, IL and Ron (Joy) Moyers of Chaffee, MO; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rhonda (Terry) Bittle of Jonesboro, IL, Sherrel (Ken) Pinnon of Lick Creek, IL, Randy (Kathy) Wheaton of Jonesboro, IL and Rudy Wheaton of Jonesboro, IL; a host of adored nieces and nephews; and several extended family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gregory Mark Wheaton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.

The visitation will be at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Following the time of visitation, the funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Robert Loveless and Sandra's son, Jon Wheaton presiding.

Interment will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery, Jonesboro, IL.

For those who prefer, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to "Samaritan's Purse."
