Richard “Rick” Wayne Denison Murphy, 64, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at home in Carthage, Missouri. Rick was born July 2, 1960, in Los Angeles, California to James E. Denison and Verna Elizabeth Green. 

Rick moved from San Francisco, California to Lakeside in Carthage, Missouri, in 1998. He served nine years in the U.S. Navy as a Telecommunications Specialist. Rick then worked at Williams Communications and at the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He enjoyed baseball, being with friends, BBQ, being outdoors, and music. Rick was also an avid dog lover.

Rick was in a 30-year relationship with Samuel Luc Sainfeld: he survives.

Rick is survived by his partner, Samuel; one brother, Ronald Denison and his wife, Sharon, of Arcada, California; one sister, Pamela Sue Denison of Alba, Missouri; one half-brother, Wade Denison and his wife; his half-brother, Robin Denison’s wife; two nieces, Jessica Suzanne Benge and Sarah Denison; five nephews, Justin Michael Portez, Todd Daniel Shiley, Mason Denison, Justin Denison, and Seth Denison.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, James and Verna Denison; his half-brother, Robin Denison; and one niece, Hailey May Shiley.

As per Rick’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
