(From Parker Mortuary)It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Eric Ganes rode off into the sunset for the final time on June 18, 2025, at the age of 76.
He was born September 13, 1948, in Joplin, Missouri to John and Geraldine Ganes, attended Joplin schools and proudly served as a U. S. Marine in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969.
Driving his racecar at Joplin and Northfork Speedways was one of the highlights of his life. He also raced at the figure 8 track at Baxter Springs. Participating in the Richard Petty Driving Experience in Florida was a dream come true. However, his true passion, aside from his family, was his horses. Every year he rode in the Mount Royal Trail Ride in Chester, Arkansas until he was unable to do so.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Glenda Spence (Jerry), Debbie Heath (Jim); his brother, John Ganes; and an infant daughter, Rachel Ganes.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years Vicki Ganes; sister-in-law Barbara Ganes; his daughter, Erica Wasson; sons Kyle Ganes and Matt Ganes (Amelia); nine grandchildren, Jordyn Ganes, Keegan Ganes, Andrew Wasson, Ellysia Wasson, Annie Strickling, Gabby Etchison, Grace Ganes, Brady and Paytyn Hedgecorth; great grandson, Jameson Wasson, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Parker Mortuary on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
