(From Clark Funeral Home)Lois Janette Burgess, 79, of Neosho, Missouri, went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 19, 2025. Janette was born on October 11, 1945, in Granby, Missouri, to Lee Roy and Charlotte Maybelle (Amburg) Davison. She graduated from Granby High School with the Class of 1963.
On June 27, 1986, Janette married George Sanford Burgess at First Baptist Church in Neosho, Missouri. Together, they shared nearly 39 years of marriage filled with love, faith, and family.
Janette worked as a school cook at Field Elementary School in Neosho, where she was known for her kindness and dedication. Her coworkers appreciated her culinary skills, and occasionally even called her after hours to ask her for cooking advice. Outside of work, she was a gifted seamstress and quilter. When her children were young, she lovingly made them matching clothes—memories they still cherish. Over the years, she continued to create beautiful quilts and aprons for her loved ones.
She had a deep love for reading and enjoyed listening to Christian music. Janette was also a wonderful cook and baker, known especially for her peanut butter cookies, apple crisp, and apple cake—treats that became family favorites. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of Granby First Church of God in Granby, Missouri.
Janette is survived by her loving husband, George Burgess; two daughters, Karen Clark of Granby, MO, and Gayle (Robert) Walthall of Scranton, KS; her brother, Gene (Linda) Davison of Granby, MO; her sister, Agnes Davis of Ada, OK; and six grandchildren: Zac (Bethany) Clark of Stella, MO, Emma (Dustin) Branham of Neosho, MO, Heather (Levi) Burdge of Neosho, MO, Megan Kelly of Neosho, MO, and Christal (Chris) Wallace of Nampa, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tina Kelly; her son, Brian Parsons; her grandson, Azariah Walthall; her son-in-law Ed Clark, and nine siblings.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Clark Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, in Neosho, Missouri. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the same location. A Graveside Service will follow at Granby Memorial Cemetery where Janette will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Janette may be made to the Granby First Church of God Food Pantry, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
Janette will be remembered for her faith, her gentle spirit, her creative hands, and the love she poured into her family and community.
