(From Clark Funeral Home)Pamela Kay (Clark-Jones) Clevenger passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 18, 2025, in Joplin, Missouri. A celebration of her life will be held in Iowa at a later date.
Pam was born July 29, 1951, to Laura Mae (Young) and Loren “Jack” Clark at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton, Iowa. She spent her early years in both Newton and California, where she found joy in books, roller skating, Girl Scouts, and time spent with her maternal grandmother—cooking, gardening, and creating cherished memories at family gatherings with her sisters and cousins.
In 1961, Pam’s mother married Albert Jones, who adopted Pam in 1965. The family moved to a farm outside of Murray, Iowa, where Pam graduated from Murray High School in 1969. Though farm life wasn’t quite her style, Pam found her place in the workforce, first as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, and later serving her community through roles with the Iowa Department of Corrections in Mitchellville and the Iowa Department of Human Services, where she retired in 1996.
Pam met the love of her life, Dwight Clevenger, later in life, and they joyfully blended their families on May 10, 2013. They made their home together in Goodman, Missouri.
Over the years, Pam enjoyed many hobbies, but especially loved bowling, flower gardening, family gatherings, karaoke with her daughter, beach sunbathing, and pool days with her sister. Her zest for life and love for her family were unmistakable.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, Debra; her granddaughter, Emalyn Wilcox; grandson, Mathew Stevens; and her beloved soul-dog, Sassifrass “Sassy.”
She is survived by her loving husband, Dwight; her children, Cory Wilcox, Andrea Wilcox (Ryan Myers), and Rhonda (Mark) Yates; her bonus children, Stacey (Doug) Bankston, Sharondra Clevenger, Selinda (Chris) Weis, and Shannon (Kerri Sandin-Salley) Clevenger.
Pam was a proud grandmother to Kara, Michael, Lincoln, Natalie, Justice, Jessica, Harley, Adam, Nick, Ben, Katie, Lizzy, Nicholas, Tyler, Evan, Abby, Tia, Jamie, Jacob, Nicky, Erica, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sisters: Denice Smith, Laura (Gus) Straight, Susan Ham (Chris Walker), and Barb Atkinson; many nieces and nephews whom she cherished; and her loyal companion, Lilly Mae.
Pam’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and a deep connection to her family. She will be missed beyond measure and remembered with great affection.
