Gordon Nyberg


Gordon Harold Nyberg of Bend, Oregon, passed away from Alzheimers on December 14, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born in Joplin, Missouri, to Ruben and Alvena Nyberg on April 14, 1945. He grew up in North Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963. He then graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Education in 1968. During that time he was also a member of the Air National Guard and he completed his service in 1971. 

He married Lea Nyberg and started a teaching career in Cannon Beach, Oregon, in 1968. Three years later they moved back to the Portland area and he taught in the North Clackamas School District until his retirement after 34 years. He will be remembered as a great outdoorsman, a dedicated educator, and a committed family man. He had a strong faith that he lived out in serving others. 








He is survived by his wife, Lea; his daughters, Kat Hunter and Angie Cole; his son-in-laws, Kelly Hunter and Neil Cole; his sister-in-law, Ellen Martin; and his granddaughters, Lauryn, Alana, and Rosemary Cole.  

He is remembered lovingly by his family, friends, and will be celebrated with two services. The first service will be at Milwaukie Covenant Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17th. The second service will be held at Antioch Church in Bend, Oregon, on Saturday, February 14th at 2:00 p.m. Donations can be made in his name to: Partners in Care of Bend, OR.
