Dennis Walker

Dennis Charles Walker, 74, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Monday morning, July 20, 2026, at National Health Care in Joplin, Missouri, after months of failing health.

Dennis was born on October 12, 1951, in Harrison, Arkansas, and was raised in Shawnee, Kansas. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1969.








In September of 1969, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully for 29 years. His military career was a source of great pride, and he carried himself with the discipline, honor, and commitment that came from a lifetime of service. He retired from the Army in December of 1998, having devoted nearly three decades to protecting and serving his nation.

In 1994, Dennis moved to Pineville, Missouri, and later made his home in Anderson in 2016. He was known as a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and fishing, loved motorcycles, amateur radio, and gunsmithing. He was also known for his easygoing nature and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. Dennis truly never met a stranger, and his friendly manner left a lasting impression on family, friends, and acquaintances alike.








Dennis is survived by his two children, Jeremy Walker of Anderson, Missouri, and Audrey Rushing and her husband, John, of Olathe, Kansas. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Billy Joe Walker, Chloe Rushing, and Ava Rushing, as well as a host of other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Betty Walker, his two infant daughters, and his brother, Danny Joe Walker.

Graveside services with full military honors are 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2026 at Springfield Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
