(From Daniel Funeral Home)Dorothy Jane Winningham, age 74, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away on July 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born on April 28, 1952, in Concordia, Kansas, to Charles Leroy Taylor and Ella Louise (Mendenhall) Maggard.
Throughout her life, Dorothy was known for her desire to make people laugh and always being the jokester of the group, her caring heart, and strong work ethic. She worked at Birdview Satellite, Emerson Electric, and Thorco before retiring as a home health caregiver. While she held many jobs over the years, her favorite and most treasured roles were those of mother and grandmother.
Dorothy was a charter member of the Barton County Eagles and remained actively involved until her illness prevented her from participating. She dedicated countless hours to helping others by organizing fundraisers, coordinating Christmas drives for children, and volunteering at community events. Her generosity, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impact on many lives.
She is survived by her five sons, Travis Cartwright and Ron Fosnight, both of Cherryvale, Kansas, Billy Varney of Lamar, Missouri, Christ Stewart of Highlandville, Missouri, and Shane Spencer of Joplin, Missouri; six daughters, Melissa Fosnight of Cherryvale, Kansas, Tricia Leivan and Chrystal Varney, both of Lamar, Missouri, Stephena Robinson of Cherryvale, Kansas, Shannon Stewart of Highlandville, Missouri, and Dink Spencer of Joplin, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, Brandon Lemmons, Brooklyn Lemmons, Hannah Lemmons, Destinee Winningham, Arianna Bandy, Hailey Byers, Chancelor Marsden, Brady Orahood, Laser Orahood, Justice Cartwright, Lyberti Cartwright, Chad Robinson, Kyle Robinson, Dalton Cohen, Demi Plank, Elle Savvenas, Lauren Taryanto, Kaylie Shatford, and her beloved granddog, Khaos; seven great-grandchildren, Blaine Keippel, River Phillips, Brooks Phillips, Miles Austin-Cartwright, Frances Cohen, Walter Cohen, and Rhett Cohen; one brother, David Taylor of Lamar, Missouri; and three sisters, Sharon Medlin, Donna Taylor, and Charlotte Courtney, all of Lamar, Missouri.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Leroy Taylor; her mother, Ella Louise Maggard; one brother, Tony Taylor; and her grandson, Brendon Lemmons.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, Missouri.
