Dennis Moffitt was born March 28th, 1929 to Harold “Pete” and Olga Moffitt in Visalia, CA.
Dennis grew up in Farmersville where he met the love of his life, Carolyn DeVault. He graduated from Visalia High School in 1948. Dennis played football and baseball in high school then attended COS following graduation. Dennis played Minor League baseball in Canada, the Visalia Cubs and in Carthage, Missouri.
Dennis was drafted into the Army in 1950 for the Korean War. Dennis and Carolyn were married after his return in 1952. Dennis started up his first business in Visalia, Service Station Repair and Maintenance which he owned and operated for eight years. In 1960, Dennis managed the Consolidated Peoples Ditch Company in Farmersville, retiring after 35 years.
Dennis and Carolyn moved to Exeter in 1961 where he owned a citrus ranch. Dennis was active in the community and was involved with the Little League, the Boy Scouts and was a member of the Lions Club. Dennis loved to fish, play golf and travel in his motor home and has made wonderful friends over his 86 years. Dennis entertained his family, great friends and fishing buddies at Wishon Lake for many summers and taught each of his five grandchildren all of his fishing tricks and shared his love of the mountains.
Dennis is survived by his wife Carolyn of 63 years; his son Greg; his daughter Gail Deathriage and her husband Mike all of Exeter; his five wonderful grandchildren Courtney Deathriage of Exeter, Brittany Deathriage Astiasuain and her husband Marty of Reedley; Morgan, Shane and Brandon Moffitt all of San Diego and his delightful great granddaughter, Presleigh Astiasuain, his little cutie. Dennis is also survived by his brothers Hal Moffitt of Yakima, WA and Errol Moffitt of Jasper GA.
