Richard Louis Vacca, age 78 passed away after battling brain and lung cancer, on Thursday, November 12, 2015. He was welcomed home by his two sons, parents, a brother and sister. He was born August 21, 1937, Frontenac, Ks, to Joe and Margaret (Moser) Vacca. Richard married Dixie Anderson on May 22, 1969.
Richard was owner/operator of Vacca Grading from 1983 to present. He had previously worked for Blevins Asphalt and was superintendent for the Carthage Special Road District.
Richard was preceded in death by two sons, Todd in 1986, Chad in 1971, parents, his in-laws, T.J. and Lucille Anderson, a sister, Joann Velia and a brother Robert Vacca. Survivors include Dixie, his wife of 46 years, three daughters, Kelli (Mike) Powelson, of Edmond, OK, Kim (Rusty) Snyder, of Carthage, MO, Kamie (John) Bourgault, of Carthage, MO, one son, Wes Vacca of Joplin, MO; eleven grandchuildren, Dillon and Riley Powelson, Jacob (Ashley) Snyder, Kally (Zach) Hatcher, Taylor Snyder, Olivia, Ava and Kane Bourgault, Trenton, Troyer and Trayven Vacca, one great granddaughter, Rory June Hatcher. Richard is survived by one brother, Joseph (Kay) Vacca of Coffeyville, KS.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, November 16, at First Christian Church, at Carthage. Visitation will be Sunday, November 15, from 3-5 p.m. at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Park Cemetery.
